This policy explains how TeachNest collects, uses, and protects your personal information, consistent with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173) of the Philippines.

1. Information we collect

• Account & profile: name, email, password (stored hashed), and optional profile details (bio, teaching level, subjects, school, division, region).
• Transactions: purchases, orders, invoices, and, for sellers, payout and tax details (e.g. TIN) needed to pay you.
• Content: resources you upload and reviews you write.
• Usage: basic logs and device data to run and secure the service.

2. How we use it

• To provide the marketplace — accounts, discovery, purchases, downloads.
• To process payments and seller payouts, and to issue invoices.
• To review content, prevent abuse, and enforce our Terms.
• To send transactional messages about your account and orders.

3. Sharing

We share personal data only as needed to run TeachNest: with payment processors (e.g. PayMongo/Xendit) to handle payments and payouts, with our hosting and file-storage providers, and where required by law. We do not sell your personal data.

4. Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to secure the service. We do not use them to track you across other sites.

5. Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active and as needed for legal, tax, and accounting purposes (for example, invoice records).

6. Your rights

Under the Data Privacy Act you may access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data, object to certain processing, and lodge a complaint with the National Privacy Commission (NPC). To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including hashed passwords and encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe.

8. Children

TeachNest is intended for educators and adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

We may update this policy; the effective date above reflects the latest version.
